The replacement cartridge out of the packaging, however, does not open the outer packaging. When you open the cartridge read the instructions on the package on how to shake the cartridge. If you have to shake it, place it with its back to the ground while gently shaking it side-to-side repeatedly. Ink cartridges that are compatible with such cartridges as the Canon PIXMA PRO-1 must be shaken prior to opening. However, the other Canon ink cartridges do NOT require shaking.
